The Northern Gateway Pipeline might add another leg at the expense of three of other legs: forestry, fishing and tourism. Any major spill will have immediate impact on forestry and fishing and tourists might not like to visit a polluted area. As a result, more jobs may be threatened in these sectors than created by the pipeline.

According to Randall Denley, there is no alternative to privatization, government wage restraint, and a shrinking public sector. Anything else is a strange and alternative universe. However, Scandinavian countries have shown that strong and competitive economies as well as superior social outcomes are possible even with higher levels of progressive taxation. There are more things in heaven and earth, Randall, than are dreamt of in your neoliberal philosophy.
