Government puts tighter leash on RCMP public statements
The federal government may have a fluent bilingual communicator in its new commissioner Bob Paulson.
But it has moved to keep Paulson and the Mounties he now leads on a much tighter leash, some even say muzzled.

malaise [mæ le z]
1. a feeling of unease or depression
2. (Medicine / Pathology) a mild sickness, not symptomatic of any disease or ailment
3. a complex of problems affecting a country, economy, etc

There is a saying with which you are probably familiar " Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise."

This phrase is written by Thomas Gray in his 1742 poem,"Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College"-

Yet ah, why should they know their fate
Since sorrow never comes too late
And happiness too quickly flies.
Thought would destroy their paradise.
Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise.

The original quote "If ignorance is bliss, tis folly to be wise."
The idea was to illustrate that because we know wisdom is not folly, ignorance should physically pain us. There is a story about Socrates that once a man came to him seeking knowledge. Socrates took him into the sea and held him below the water until he was to the point of death. Then Socrates told the man that when he wants wisdom as much as he wanted to breathe, he would have it. That's what this quote means. The expression Ignorance is Bliss means only that as long as we don't know about something bad it doesn't scare us or make us sad. For all of us engaged in the search for knowledge, ignorance is agony.

We are to-day living with malaise - though with the highest ever material standards of living for the greater proportion of our people.

We all have questions. We could have bliss through ignoring them. Wisdom comes from seeking understanding.

I just spoke with Becky. She and I agree - what we (and others) raise are based on instances of malaise in our views. They are invitations to those holding alternate views to express their thoughts.

Hegelian dialectic, usually presented in a threefold manner, was stated by Heinrich Moritz Chalybäus as comprising three dialectical stages of development: a thesis, giving rise to its reaction, an antithesis, which contradicts or negates the thesis, and the tension between the two being resolved by means of a synthesis

OK Joe:
I guess you can rename the DD to Rebecca's hate rant.
Three things have become very clear.
1. Rebecca Gingrich is an expert on everything.
2. Rebecca Gingrich hates pretty much everyone but especially Americans and Conservatives.
3. Rebecca Gingrich spends way way too much time on the internet.
My Father taught me a lesson on swearing. He said that if you use swear words all of the time in your speech then you will have nothing to use when you actually get angry. Also: if you use swear words all of the time, nobody can tel when you are angry.

Joe--the list written by Rory Koopmans re Native governance makes me so angry it took me this long to write a response.  I won't be upset if you don't post my response but I have to get it out of my system.

So the natives want to govern their own land as they see fit?  I imagine this means with copious amounts of taxpayer dollars?

Has Rory ever interacted with the real Natives or is he taking direction form the ''leaders'--'leaders' that have even outdone our 'leaders' in their theft and abuse of their own people?
My kids went to a mostly Native school with Native kids from the richest reserve in Alberta.  The horror stories I heard from the parents would curl your hair.  The people lived in poverty while the 'leaders' were world travellers and had everything they could want.  This was done by the 'leaders' while howling for more money from Canadians because they lived in such poverty!

I helped run a salvage centre to keep reusable things out of our local dump.  We kept things for a Native social worker who worked on a reserve just outside Calgary.  With the millions of dollars the reserve got from the taxpayer they had to come to us for things to start up a social centre for their citizens as there was no money from the Chief--they wouldn't give them one red cent to help create this centre.  This is the same reserve where that Native woman was shot by the RCMP officer.  That Native woman was living in sqaulor with no heat or electricity while the Chief had just installed a $90,000. window in his office.  I am not knocking the RCMP officer--he thought she had a gun.

How soon we forget the more equal status of Natives in Ontario.  Does anyone remember the Caledonia destruction by Mohawks where nothing was done to them as they destroyed public property, homes and railway tracks, used unregistered guns, threatened homeowners and tore down Canadian flags???  They were given everything they demanded and the homeowners were ignored.  And this property they were demanding was sold to the government in 1945.

In Canada all are to be equal, but as usual, some are more equal and above the law?

Who will make sure that the Native people get their due rather than their 'leaders' taking everything?  Sounds just like our government, doesn't it?
I could go on and on but suffice it to say, the Native people are being used and abused.  Not by us, but by their own 'Leaders'.

Lt.-Gen. Bouchard deflects accolades for a job well done in Libya
HALIFAX — Lt.-Gen. Charles Bouchard immediately latches onto the notion he is Canada's newest war hero. Then he moves to crush it.
The heroes are the HMCS Charlottetown sailors who came under fire during the battle of Misrata and still drove forward to help stop an assault on the city from pro-Gadhafi forces, he says. The heroes are the pilots of the Canadian surveillance and fighter aircraft who flew high above Libya for seven months, risking their lives and pushing both their limits and their capabilities to the extreme.
"These are the heroes," Bouchard says in an exclusive interview with Postmedia News on Saturday. "And it's important that people understand that they are heroes much like the people in Afghanistan are heroes as well. These are the true Canadian people who need to be recognized."

From Rene Moreau (416-489-8347)
re; Government, bad, but never mention the failings of those who would take the place of government?
Yes, criticize government, especially a Harper government, but never, ever mention the obvious problems of letting the rich and corporate, run things, in place of government, by sheer force of money and unelected power?
Around the world, the right wing are being told to criticize the current form of government, every-where, while the ultra-rich and the corporate-types set up Authorities, world-wide! We know from watching that these Authorities or quangos, (quasi autonomous non-governmental Organization), share 4 features,
 1. Claim to be an agency of government, and have infiltrated government to place an act of parliament, or such, to legitimize them-selves.
2. Are taxpayer funded in most cases, but not all.
3. Are arms length from watching or regulation by government.
4. Are world wide, gaining power over those things  that are very important to mankind's existence and therefore profitable. Food, water, power, health, finances, education, offense and defense, etc.
They have no citizenship, can't be charged with treason, have the rights and privileges of human beings, and only the responsibilities
If successful, mankind becomes CASH COWS, or serfs, again, and we've been there, done that.
Do we want to repeat that after we learned to fight for and enjoy democracy?
Maybe the term is to 'lobotimize ourselves, by in-action, or 'don't worry, be happy.'

(Yes, this is a repeat, but must be said, again in face of resistance to the human view!)

Is this what the Occupiers sense? Or are they just a bunch of left-wing loonies trying to relive the days of their parents (or grandparents) youth forty to fifty years ago?

Hi Joe,

Who do you reckon are the real enemies of freedom? An ally of Canada who just happens to be from Afghanistan, or the government who denied him a life-saving visa to Canada?

Stand up for Sayed Shah Sharifi. »

Sharifi was an interpreter for Canadian military forces in the war in Afghanistan. Star columnist Paul Watson calls Sharifi a "courageous leader" who showed "extraordinary bravery under fire," working right on the battlefield alongside Canada's soldiers.

Still, that wasn't enough for the Canadian government. When Sharifi complained about the slow bureaucracy process, they got offended. No visa for Sayed.

Tell Canada that denying Sayed his visa is not just petty--it's immoral. »

Subject: THRIVE movie - watch it online - very worthwhile
(FOR FUN, keep track:
The movie was launched 11/11/11.
As at Sunday, Nov 20, noon my time -  34,221 people have viewed it.
Even though the link was down for a time.
The movie is 2 hours.
Click on the icon in the bottom-right to blow it up to the full size of your screen.
It covers an amazing amount of ground concisely.

-        We don't know at this point whether we will be able to bring some technologies on-stream.  It can't hurt to know about them.
-        There is something I'd like to add, not a fault of the movie - he can't get it ALL!    The thing mentioned but under-emphasized:
corporate control of a gift that, like food, is a serious threat
an agenda that is already well underway,
an agenda against which, thank goodness, Maude Barlow and others have been mobilizing for years
Efforts to privatize water, put it under corporate control, like oil and gas (energy).
The narrator is looking at things from the American perspective.  I will try to send an email to draw to attention the situation with water.
And here is the site for the movie movement.  It only costs $5 to view it through their site and you may interact on the site with others and become more educated.  I sincerely believe that it is not about getting rich from the movie but to recoup some of their money in making it, get people to the site to educate them and motivate them into action.

Subject: THRIVE - The Movie - Don't Miss It
From: Steve Campbell

Note:  Being eye-weary, I just listened to most of this movie.  I think this movie has been produced with the best of intentions. The final written message at the very end states: "Being included in THRIVE does not imply that those interviewed agree with all of the conclusions presented in the film, nor does it mean that we agree with all of their perspectives.  They have each contributed importantly to our understanding and we are grateful to them all."  Having only listened to this film once, I picked up one glaring error;  that of the fabricated history of the millions exterminated in the so-called Jewish holocaust of WWII.  Below I will provide evidence of that fabrication, for those who are not familiar with the work of the revisionists.  Another error, at least from what I have learned, is the section where David Icke, whom I greatly respect, continues to miss the mark in his analysis of the Jewish question.  He concentrates his aim at the Rothschild dynasty, the founders of the state of Israel.  What David neglects to mention is the core of Judaism which is the Talmud.  It is from that work that the world destroyers have their template for world domination.  Another thing that bothered me was the sight of a mixed Black/White marriage and their child, a now politically correct image that has been pushed on us by design by the Talmudic destroyers of family, heritage, religion, national sovereignty, etc, ad nauseam.
So, at least for now, and with the above exceptions, I think this is a very important movie that puts much of the best knowledge together in a digestible format. - sc
