Hello Joe!  Just got this ... and very much appreciate it!  With H***er (as I now write his name) with almost total freedom of action, we have to stand up to such abuses of power ... or it's a slippery slope ... Is there any way you can provide a link to the info below, so I can post on Facebook?  Hope all is well otherwise, Kathleen

"The June 24th CBC radio show "Living Out Loud" did this in-depth documentation of one detainee's experience. His concern had been the plight of South African grandmothers who were trying to bring up AIDS orphans without employment or resources ? and all we heard about this was only this one sentence of the whole program. The police mismanagement drove all of those legitimate issues right off the news. This is a very thorough exploration of what it was like to be present there and how the riot affected the attitudes of police. They became extremely offensive toward all the people who were on the street. Taylor recounts the "kettling" from the viewpoint of very peaceable individuals. Most disturbing is that they were all photographed and threatened with further arrests if they ever show up at any public protest again. Audio archive available at: http://www.cbc.ca/livingoutloud/episode/2011/06/23/two-days-in-june-the-g20-one-year-after/ "I wasn't an activist before G20 but they've made me an activist now." Tommy Taylor says. He's doing a drama in which the audience can experience being inside the cage."

Joe,

Does it really ,matter who did decide, today we, in Vancouver are dealing with the
Stanley Cup riot, while we also learn that all questioning of the 1949 rioting did
not bring any serious punishment.People are demanding justice, but in Liberal
Canada justice is poorly served. So will no take time to listen to some 20 interviews,
on the end it will result to nothing or very little, no matter how long and often
demanding disclosure. Unless the Government is ready, willing and supported in
changing the laws, the verbal battle remains the same. The Vancouver  Sun carries an
article with the opinion of an UBC assistant professor that â "anarchists" are  not
bad people, maybe he should look  up the meaning of the word first. In principle
many of the brainless people in the recent Vancouver riot are not bad people, yes
stupid. deserving to pay the price, which is very unlikely in our "don't offend" society.

I just emailed you the link to a gathering to be held on Sat re G20one year ago exactly
http://wearechangetoronto.org/2011/06/01/the-toronto-g20-redux-fundamental-freedom-festival-june-25-queens-park/

Re reports on CBC this amit is unreal for me to think that so many officers would be brought to Toronto with instructions, training re crowds etc under supposedly expert command (all at public expense)  were so overwhelmed that they forgot proper policing methods.

Am I to believe that they, McGuinty, Blair et al did not know that "Martial law" was the order of the day coming from on highHarper?

Hi Joe,

I live in Toronto and was appalled and disgusted by what happened in my City that weekend.

However, I totally support the police in whatever actions were taken!

Torontonians were warned in advance NOT to go downtown that weekend due to the potential problems. Fences were erected days before and that received wide news coverage.

Why would any peaceful, law-abiding citizen go downtown after being told about this and being told not to do so. Only idiots and trouble-makers.

We know there were professional hoodlums, rabble rousers, trouble makers etc. who came from far and wide just for the soul purpose of causing trouble.

Professionals, dressed in hooded, masked outfits, who vandalized, and then removed their outer clothing and walked around in regular street clothes so as not to be identified by police. And we think the police are supposed to know under these circumstances who is a legitimate peaceful protester and who is not???

In every case I have heard about supposed police brutality, it only occurred after individuals were told by police to leave the area and refused.

If there is to be an inquiry, have an inquiry into who these professional instigators are, and send them packing.

"Peaceful assembly" be damned! There was nothing peaceful about this and the police were at a huge disadvantage.

Don't waste our money on a witch hunt against police and politicians!

If you are tallying responses, count me against a useless inquiry!

Gord Moore

P.S. I am surprised that you appear to be standing on the side of the idiots and professional radicals by demanding a judicial inquiry which is clearly designed to
damage the reputations of police and politicians.

Appearance is in the eyes of the beholder, Gord.  The Black Bloc in my opinion ought to have been apprehended while dressed in uniform.  They were not though police had been marshalled to move into Queen's Park immediately after they had "removed their outer clothing".  Orders were given to fill the prepared detention centre. Swept up as the police followed orders decided upon by we do not yet know were employees of stores in the area, residents and yes, gawkers.  I look forward to the REAL NEWS release tomorrow. If you can free up the time look and listen to the sites suggested, .....Joe
