From: Ron Thornton

Hi Joe:

As always, thanks for the headlines in the latest Digest. They bring a few thoughts to mind...

_*Dziekanski Inquiry: RCMP Image battered*_ --- If the four cops who killed the poor chap in the Vancouver airport or the lead investigator are allowed to remain in the RCMP, then that organization will be indicating to us all exactly what kind of lying, cheating murdering two-bit SOB's it prefers as its true poster thugs...er...boys. As long as they remain, that organization has no more credibility than a corrupt southern sheriff's department from the 1950's. At least Sheriff Roscoe was funny, along with being corrupt and incompetent. The RCMP isn't that funny. Then again, a senior RCMP chap says he is sorry they killed the guy, that there is much to learn from such incidents and things can happen so quickly. There is nothing like the smell of bullshit in the morning.

_*Curbside Justice Just Ahead*_ - Personally, I think if Ontario wants to disallow folks from having any drinks, not a one, before climbing behind the wheel, that is up to the good folks in Ontario. Personally, there are a lot of twits out there who shouldn't be driving regardless as to whether they have had a drink or not (even a Coke). Some seem to believe that to leave a driver walking with a three day suspension for any amount is akin to convicting a person of almost committing a crime. I just see it as zero tolerance. I haven't had anyone in my life killed by a drunk driver so I have the luxury as viewing it as going a bit overboard. If Ontarians don't like it, vote (or threaten to vote) in someone who might change it back to the way it was.

_*Nursing shortage needs urgent care*_ --- I was wondering if a nurse coming in from some foreign land can become a nurse in Canada by simply passing a test or in some other way demonstrating their competence? Come to think of it, why do we prevent perfectly qualified professionals from teaching without having to jump through some bogus bureaucratic hoops and useless educational courses that in the end mean squat? What skills do such people require and do they have them? What more do you need to know, or expect? Beyond that, I think too often the powers that be are simply getting in the way of the solution and being part of the problem.

_*Global warning critics appointed to science board*_ --- See, the world has not gone entirely nuts! Some real scientists with a desire for real science (and not just the kind that gets their heads fully buried in the money trough so that they might get to study make believe) are being invited to partake in real research and study. Maybe now we might get the real scoop and less of the bogus scam on the issue. Then again, there is nothing stopping real believers in the myth from sending a few bucks as an indulgence to Al Gore just in case you or a bovine in your field happened to pass a little gas today. All can be forgiven with just a few bucks going in the right hands.

Thanks again, Joe, for the soap box.

Ron.

Well Al, keep hoping against hope for a glorious victory. Your riding has $140K in the bank and you still have not won a clear majority. If after three attempts your neo-cons can't win a majority, they never will.

I just hope and pray that the damage to our Canadian federation that your  Harper neo-cons have done , and are doing, is reversible.
